Collections - Skunks!

Collection: A group of objects or works to be seen, studied, or kept together. An accumulation

COLLECTIONS: Part I – Skunks

When I was a little girl, my Auntie Gladys from Chicago started sending me ceramic skunk figurines as gifts. Hence, the beginning of my skunk collection! Through the years of moving, storing, and dusting my skunks some have been lost. The remaining skunks sit on their shelves in a my Lil’ Squirtz office. Here is a picture of some of them. They don’t get dusted too often, but they remain a fond memory of my childhood and of Auntie Gladys.

Collections are fun. They do not need to be large or expensive. But, I think they should be a reflection of you – who you are, your roots, what you enjoy, the past and present.

Throughout the year I will scratch about my collections. They will not appear in any particular order of importance, size of collection, or age of collection - they just will appear randomly. Keep an eye out for the next scratchings of Collections coming in February.

Enjoy the day.

New Year - New Decade

As we enter a new year and a new decade I am reminded of all the little things that make me smile. Here are a few:
  • my grand kids - 6, 4, 3 and 16 months - oh how fun are they!
  • Barley our yellow lab - 7 1/2 yrs old and still full of energy and mischief
  • a great junk store find - as if I need any more treasures! As you read my scratches this year, you will totally understand
  • a good movie - just finished the BBC television series 'The House of Eliott' - loved it, the clothing of the 1920's are beautiful
  • a pretty piece of fabric - my passion
  • an old 1800's or 1930's quilt - love to study the design, color placement and just their beauty.

What makes you smile?

Enjoy the day.

newest addition to Lil' Squirtz!

we finally made it! Our newest addition to the Lil' Squirtz family is here... "Scratchings From A Hen & Her Chick". It has been a long time coming, and as you know as fellow moms, mompreneurs, wives, friends, & daughters...we have many of these things and ideas called "work in progress" and it becomes extremely exciting when one is executed...so welcome!

We look forward to sharing with you the stories of our company, its co-founders (mother hen & baby chick) and the in's and out's of what we do and who we are.

Just a bit to keep you interested: we are a family run, strictly american made children's clothing company, who has grown a business from the ground up, single-handedly through a tremendous amount of hard work and love for what we do. While along this journey we are also raising a family, enjoying our grandchildren, and learning how to celebrate each day with creativity, humor, and sometimes just plain old-fashion fun... so let us take you with us and enjoy our journey together. We hope you find it as exciting and rewarding as we do!
