A New Year - A New Look

Here we are in the middle of January already!  Lil' Squirtz has been busy making changes that we know you will love!  We have moved our shopping cart to our store front on Etsy.  Why you ask?  There are several reasons for this change.  First, we wanted to streamline and centralize our shop activities to one site.  This allows us to better serve our customers and also gives us some much needed extra time so we can design and produce new and exciting items for all the Lil' Squirtz lovers out there!  This has been a slow process, but we are continuing to add product to the site.
What can you expect from us?  You can expect the same great quality merchandise that we have been praised for producing.  You can also expect the same great customer service we have always provided.  Another big change you will notice is our new pricing structure.  Check out our storefront and you will be pleased in what you see!  http://www.etsy.com/shop/lilsquirtzclothing  Most importantly, you can expect some great new products from Lil' Squirtz that we know you will love and just have to have. We love to create!
During this transition "Scratchings From a Hen and Her Chick" has taken a big hit.  It has just been sitting here without any activity.  Our goal for this year is to bring you useful information and ideas.   As in the past, we will continue to share our families and all our fun activities.
We know you will enjoy all the new changes we have implemented and all the ones we have planned for the future.
The entire Lil' Squirtz team wants to thank you, our loyal customers for always having faith in us and supporting us as we travel this journey to bring USA made fun, age appropriate clothing and accessories to the world!

Who do we want to collaborate with...??

We were asked a fun question on who we would most want to collaborate on a project with.  Here's what we had to say... Artist Spotlight

Success in the City...

What an exciting and awesome time Mom and I had yesterday at Bargain Hunting Pdx.  We met some amazing people and other fellow indie artisans.  Our perfect and lovely neighbor Molly Muriel spread some lovely scents and aromas into the air with her amazing soaps and lotions.  Mom can't wait to try out her new soaps.  Also cool stores Dandelion Baby and Twill had some really cool stuff - can't wait for the kids to see what I got them from Twill - a complete bargain I might add!  We had buyers from the Portland & Vancouver areas, but also as far as Boston & Charlottesville,Virginia.  We love meeting people from all over the country and learning where our Lil' Squirtz clothing is worn.

It was a long day- up at 6am and home at 7pm...it was extremely hot, as the Chrystal Ballroom does not have air conditioning...but we did it successfully and with the powerhouse spirit & energy this Lil' Team can provide!

Yellow Lab - Black Lab

Our Barley Boy

It was a very sad day in October when we lost our Barley from cancer on the heart.  Even today it is hard to write about him without tears.  He was our best buddy and he brought us a lot of enjoyment over the years.  Even at 8 years old he had a lot of spunk!

Some of the things that Barley loved and made us smile are:  carrots, raspberries-he picked them right off the bushes, apples-when our trees had fruit he would eat at least three a day, spending time in the garden with Rob, duck hunting with Rob, sleeping in front of the wood stove, Rob's hats-loved to steal them, shoes-just loved to carry them around, chasing the coyotes in the valley, fabric-always would take fabric scraps from the garbage cans and run around with them, the grand kids, our family, friends and neighbors, our mail lady, our UPS driver.

Things he did not like:  riding in the car without being in his crate, mousetraps, mean people, walking on a leash, being alone.

Thank you Barley for all the love and happiness you gave us.  You will always have a special place in our hearts.

We did not want to be without a dog.  So off we went to Klamath Falls, Oregon, to pick up our newest family member.  He has already brought us so much enjoyment.  He is wonderful, smart and very handsome.  We have fallen in love with Higgins.  He is awesome!

Happy October

1935 Sears Catalog

Collections - Cookbooks

Collection: A group of objects or works to be seen, studies or kept together.  An accumulation
COLLECTIONS:  Part V - Cookbooks
Cookbooks - book shelves full of cookbooks!  Helen, a.k.a. my mom, started me cooking and baking at a early age.  She  also had a cookbook collection, which I inherited.  I started my own collection when I was 18.  I love sitting down and looking through my cookbooks.  It provides me a lot of enjoyment and relaxation.  I also love to bake and cook.  But I especially love baking.  The holidays are so much fun in the kitchen with the grandkids and whoever else joins in!
A few of my of old favorites that are no longer in print include:
  • Homemade Cookies by the Food Editors of Farm Journal - 1971
  • A World of Baking by Delores Casella -1968
  • Fantastic Favorites from Fallon Grace Lutheran Church, Fallon, Montana
Newer to my collection includes:
  • Magnolia Bakery Cookbook by Jennifer  Appel and Allysa Torey -1999
  • All of the Cooking Light Cookbooks - awesone recipes
Let's see - what should I fix for dinner?  I just don't know what to fix - so I guess we'll just have to go out to eat!

It is no wonder that baby chic is obsessed with food!
Cook something yummy.
Enjoy the day.

The "Lists"

You know how you have all these little "things" on lists that need to be taken care of - well I have "my list" and I have my "honey-do list".  These are things that aren't necessarily difficult or take a lot of time to complete, but they are things you either have forgotten about, don't really want to do, or maybe you have moved on to something else.  Well, as of this morning my "honey-do list" has been completed!   Things are moving along!  Hmm, I guess I will need to start a new one.  Of course  "my list" is a mile or two long!  But  I am slowly getting things marked off.   It sure feels good to get things completed.

I hope your "lists" show some movement towards completion too!

Enjoy the day.

yes...I love what I do and I love who I do it with!

There is not a week that goes by that I don't have to answer the infamous questions..."do you work?"  And for almost 5 years now I have said the same answer... "No"... followed by a huge "BUT I ..." then proceed to explain all the different jobs I do have. And I'm not just talking about raising my children and doing all the tasks and work that is involved in keeping a house, family, budget, let alone a stocked kitchen!  I'm actually talking about work: you know, that thing we do that actually pay us.

I spent two wonderful weeks vacationing with my husband and kids last month in two of the most amazing places on the west coast: Santa Cruz, CA and Lake Tahoe!  I was able to spend many days relaxing on the beach and swimming in the lake, watching my children laughing and giggling, riding my sweet beach cruiser bike and just hanging out.  These were great times for reflecting and realizing what a wonderful, special life I live...and what a true gift it is that I am able to do so many different things!  I love what I do and I love who I do it with.

So I dare you to ask me now "do you work?..." because here is what I will say

Yes, I am a working mother!
I'm a partner in a successful children's clothing company
I'm a part-time dance instructor
I'm a part-time free lance graphics designer
And yes...I am also a full time mom, wife, daughter & friend!
